Trevélez is a maze of cobbled
streets in the Alpujarra region, with whitewashed Moorish houses,
nestling in a beautiful valley in the Sierra Nevada National Park,
divided into three parts each with its own character, and never
more than a short walk from quaint local shops, bars and restaurants
offering superb local dishes in wonderful settings. Somehow the
twentieth century seems to have left Trevélez behind, allowing
it to retain the forgotten charm of a bygone age. Just stroll around
and soak up the atmosphere. The region will especially appeal to
bird watchers, ramblers, artists and those who love the great outdoors.
For lovers of driving, there are circular routes that take you through
some of the prettiest villages in Spain. Here you can stop and walk
in the tiny cobbled streets, take a leisurely lunch at one of the
many Tapas bars and buy the locally made goods for sale in the shops
